Praise the Lord!!! The last 20 miler before the marathon is in the books. I fared a little better this time than last time and was even able to push the pace enough to actually feel like I was racing from mile 10 to mile 18! But, for the last two miles, my body was like…nope…and I could not keep the pace up and started shuffling. Maybe that’s “the wall”? That happened last time too but lasted much longer. So, I think for the marathon, since I’ll have 6 miles to go at that point, I won’t start pushing the pace until mile 16 or 18. That way, maybe I can finish strong. It’s tough though. My A goal is to finish, my B goal is to run the whole time, and my C goal is to finish around 4:45. It’s slow, but I think that will be giving it all I’ve got. Running is the ultimate test for me in trying not to compare myself, staying in my own lane, and endeavoring to stay positive mentally. We’ll see how it goes. I’m looking forward to cutting back the mileage for the next few weeks and resting up for the big day.
