Tom rescued us all on Friday afternoon and took us out to Tim’s Ford Lake for a boat ride. It’s such a beautiful lake, and there was hardly anybody there. SUCH a great way to get out of the house and still be socially distant!
We stopped off at some little islands to explore along the way. We saw several mommy geese sitting on nests (I walked up on one without even realizing it, and she hissed at me…I got out of her way as fast as I could!), several daddy geese trying to distract us from their brood by honking and flapping their wings and getting in the water, and one momma goose with five little goslings waddling after her.
The boys took turns driving the boat, found sticks shaped like guns in the woods, and dug around in the sand. I found a bunch of wild roses and discovered one of the coolest trees I’ve ever seen…a cypress. Tom skipped rocks and led the charge on land and in the water.
I’ve always loved being outside, but I love being outside even more during this time.
