9th Wedding Anniversary Trip…

Tom and I will have been married for 9 years in February!!! We were SO excited to celebrate for five days at a resort in Florida, while Grandma and Grandpa so graciously took care of the boys for us. What a treat!!! We relaxed on the beach, played corn hole and paddle ball in the sand, went down an inflatable water slide, swam in the ocean (brrrrr) and in the pool, ran on the beach, ate super delicious food, enjoyed hanging out on the balcony, ate dinner and lunch with friends (Evan and his precious wife and son), visited the Clearwater Marine Aquarium gift shop in honor of Xander (we decided to save visiting the actual aquarium for him), paddle boated and played put put golf, went karaokeing, and took a peaceful boat ride (we saw manatees!). We were so thankful to get away from the winter weather and soak up the sun together. What a blessing!!!

Christmas in VA…

We spent Christmas in Virginia this year with Grandma and Grandpa Seyfried, the (Northern) Seyfrieds, the Longs, and the Paccassis. The boys had a BLAST playing with their cousins…exploring the woods, playing pool, decorating Christmas cookies, playing Wii games, going to mass, and opening and playing with their Christmas presents. Highlights for me were: catching up with everyone over after meal conversations; learning to sew a pair of pajama pants from a pattern with Sherri; watching all of the kids play together; family prayer time; continuing my half marathon training by running my first 8 miles in 13 years; and seeing Gabe, in his little man Christmas pajamas, hug Joseph and kiss baby Jesus in the nativity.

Halloween…

We went trick or treating in our neighborhood with my namesake, Isabelle Leigh (the daughter of one of my dearest friends, Lizza). It was so sweet to see all of the kids together (it’s amazing how they grow) and to walk around the neighborhood with Tom and Isabelle’s aunt and grandparents, marveling at the droves of trick or treaters that turn out on Halloween night in our neighborhood.

Tom was an “I don’t know”, I was Pikachu, Jonas was a wizard, Xander was Pikachu, Isabelle was a fairy princess, and Roman was Ash the Pokemon trainer.

Fun Run…

Jonas and Xander were SO excited to run in the Fun Run to raise money for technology for their school. It was a threatening rain kind of day, so they ended up changing the location from the playground field to the gym…it was a glow run and the kids loved it. There’s always something about watching a race that makes me tear up…especially to see my boys out there. Roman and I had fun showing our Cardinal pride and cheering them on. Thank you so much to everyone who sponsored them!!!

Xander’s Orchard Field Trip…

Xander went on a field trip with his class (and all of the other 1st grade classes) to a local orchard this morning. I loved being able to be there with him. The weather was perfect (such a nice fall-ish change from the long stretch of 90 degree weather we’ve been having). It was so sweet just holding his hand and walking through the orchard. The orchard guides talked about tree spacers, grafting, bees (queens, drones, and worker bees), orchard ladders, picking apples, different types and varieties of apples, apple hummus, and apple cider. I think Xander enjoyed it. (He was sad that he only got to pick one apple though…we’re used to picking a bag full at the apple orchard we visit every fall…but I think he understood that if every child picked a bag full they wouldn’t have many apples left.) Yay for fall, yay for apples, and yay for a field trip with Xander!!!

Jonas Playing Soccer…

After a year of gymnastics and a year of rock climbing, Jonas wanted to try his hand (or rather his foot) at soccer this fall. His first two practices got off to a rocky start with a no show coach both times (I actually ended up coaching one of his practices with the help of a few older, soccer-playing siblings). Jonas had his first game today and did a GREAT job of getting in there (especially considering the fact that he hasn’t had any real soccer training since the one season he played when he was four AND the fact that it was blazingly, ridiculously hot). The assistant coach stepped up to be the head coach and did such a wonderful job guiding the boys through their first game of the season.

Roman’s First Day of School…

Roman had his first day of preschool in the 4 year old class today! Xander was sick and stayed home from school, so he got to go with us and see his old school and teachers. Roman didn’t even say goodbye…he walked right in his classroom with his backpack on and started playing. I said, “Bye, Roman!” He said, “Bye, Mom!” Gotta love it.

Audrey’s Visit…

Audrey visited with us this week, and we absolutely loved having her…she is such a blessing. We played Pokemon Go, swam in the pool, went to the downtown sprayground, ate a sweet treat at Rita’s, had a pajama day, did some antiquing in Nolensville, etched and made journals, went bowling, played volleyball, and floated down a lazy river. We’re already looking forward to our time together next year.

Ray LaMontagne…

My dear cousin and friend, Heather, bought us tickets to see Ray LaMontagne in celebration of our 40th birthdays!!! It was SUCH a treat to walk around downtown, eat dinner and listen to bluegrass at the Acme Feed and Seed, and hang out together on a summer night catching up on life and taking in the sounds of some of my favorite music downtown.
